Hi Warf-farers, welcome back to WARFS,
This will be a build diary of my Feroza F300
I have owned this car for 15 years..
it was much loved and much money and modifications were spent on it in the old WARFS days.
I decided to stop putting it off and get the rebuild happening…
The kick-starter was receiving a message from a guy that Rally raced the JDM only DeTomaso Charades asking if I knew anyone who would want his rally teams spare DeTomaso engine that had been sitting in the shed.
These engines, coded as HD-EG were the most powerful petrol engines Daihatsu ever produced and are essentially a HD-E 1.6L with an uprated camshaft. making more power than a feroza (US ROCKY) across the rev range.
I eagerly collected this at 6.30 in the morning as I met him on the highway.
the pull down begins..
after a quick inspection the engine seems immaculately clean inside.. I set to work cleaning up the outside, replacing timing belts and water and oil pumps, painting the valve cover and bolt-ons and generally making it look pretty.
then I began the bodywork..
stay tuned for the body teardown.
